SINGLE INCISION LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) can be regarded as the future of Laparoscopic Surgery. Shri Balajis Hospital of General and Laparoscopic Surgery specializes in the same and is one of the few centers of the country to provide this unique treatment procedure.

Procedure Aspects:

SILS in comparison to the traditional general surgery technique and laparoscopic surgery technique is done through a ‘Single Entry Point’. The surgery only requires an incision of 20mm. Through a scope the surgeons views the internal organs and pictures are taken of the affected area. The technique aids the surgeon in providing him a wider angle of vision, thereby making the procedure more effective.

The Instruments that are used to perform SILS are flexible, giving surgeons the advantage of maneuverability, flexibility and greater reach.

The surgeries are usually performed through the navel and post the same only a gum is put to seal the incision. The result is less post operative pain and least tissue trauma.

SILS is now an excellent option for patients that need treatment for Gall Bladder Stones, Appendicitis, Hernia, selected gastrointestinal surgeries.

Advantages:

  • Least number of incisions
  • Less tissue trauma
  • No Scarring
  • Less chances of infection
  • Early mobility
  • Early discharge
  • Less post operative pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Lesser chances of complications
  • Wider vision for the surgeons to operate
